Problem with 3" vertical band of diminished color on Toshiba 40" lcd TV?

Set is year and 3 months old..noticed a 3 inch vertical strip of what can best be described as diminished color...more noticeable with whites/blues. Anyone else experience this? Any history with Toshiba and willingness to extend warranty to cover?
