my portable dvd player won't read any discs. What's wrong?

its a panasonic DVD-LS86. For certain dvd's it'll spin them a little while and then say that it can't read that type of disc. Others it just sas it automatically. These are all discs it worked with just yesterday. It makes a weird noise like it's rattling the disc during rotation.
