How do I connect my Comcast Cable box to my jvc dvd digital theater system th-g40?

Can I do that? We've got a somewhat old tv that doesn't even have HDMI. :/ Can I set the Comcast Cable box with the jvc dvd digital theater system th-g40? I have the surround sound with the system.

How do I connect my playstation 3 to my JVC TH-G40 surround sound using an optical connection?

I connected the cable into the optical in/outputs to both the ps3 and reciever. Not sure what to select under sound settings to make sound come out of speakers. Also, the optical cable doesnt feel like it connects in all the way and I dont want to force it and break it.
