Problems with Dynex® - 7-Outlet Surge Protector.?

I have the TV plugged into the first spot on the outlet and other electronics (sound system, cable box, xbox, etc) plugged into the remaining spots. The other electronics only have power to them when my TV is turned on. Is there a way around this?
